The Ontario Public Service (OPS) is pleased to announce the second launch of the 2024 Indigenous Internship Program (IIP). We encourage eligible Indigenous students and graduates who are driven by a passion for creating a stronger Ontario to learn more and consider applying for our opportunities.

This program provides Indigenous students and recent graduates with the opportunity to gain knowledge, develop skills, and build relationships that will strengthen their future employment prospects in the labour market, while contributing to Ontario’s diverse and inclusive public service.

You are a key partner in our programs’ success and are encouraged to share these opportunities within your respective networks and communities. The information below provides program-specific details and eligibility as well as information on how you can promote the programs.

Indigenous Internship Program

The IIP is a 12-month paid internship designed to provide recent Indigenous graduates with the opportunity to gain professional level work experience and a pathway through which they can build and develop transferable skills that can be used to gain sustained employment in their field of choice.

To be eligible to participate in the IIP, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)
  • Have graduated from a college or university with a diploma, degree or post-graduate certificate within the past five years (May 2019 – August 2024)
  • Live in Ontario during their placement term
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

Opportunities for the 2024 IIP can be accessed through the OPS career portal. Candidates can apply now and the application period will close June 27, 2024! Placements may begin between July-September 2024.

We encourage you to share the OPS cover letter and resume writing guide so students and
recent graduates can apply OPS best practices to their submissions!
