Are you looking for support? Discover How We Can Help.

April 02, 2020

Dear Community,

During this time, our Staff continues to work in collaboration with other band programs to support the needs of our community. The Wellness Center Building is currently closed to programming, activities and the general public. However, Wellness phones will be answered on Mondays and Fridays 10 am- 2 pm. If you have questions or would like to speak to one of our counsellors for non-critical issues, we urge you to call during these days and hours.

Our service is not crisis based, but we understand this might be a difficult time for you and your family. We are providing the crisis support resources  and after-hours contacts on this page for your use. Keep this list handy and use as often as you need to. Also linked is updated information from our partners at Legal Aid Ontario and the Mental Health Commission of Canada. We hope that you find this information helpful.

As always, in case of mental health emergencies, do not hesitate to call 911.

Other resources:

  • 211: a multilingual helpline to find services in your community.
  • First Nations and Inuit Hope for Wellness Help Line: 24/7 anonymous helpline serving Indigenous People looking for immediate emotional and mental support.
  • Crisis Service Canada
  • Kids Help Line: 24/7 phone line for children and youth under 18 yrs. Any issue, challenge or struggle can be discussed anonymously.
  • Sexual Assault Crisis Line: Providing 24/7 mental health support service for victims of sexual assault, located at the Owen Sound Hospital.
  • Text-based Women's Crisis Support
  • The Women’s Center of Grey Bruce: Emergency Shelter/Crisis counselling, and telephone outreach.

Contact information for these services and others are listed on the Wellness Support Service Numbers page.

The Wellness Center is posting updates via our Face Book page and through flyers as often as possible. As Anishinaabe, we have always taken care of one another. We know and trust that our community will continue to do so. Be safe everyone!

Clinical Supervisor,
April Jones
