Open House Planned for Highway 6 Property

The Chief and Council of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation are focused on developing real economic opportunities for our members. Earlier this year, just before the pandemic impacted the world, we bought a 15 acre property on Highway 6, just south of Wiarton. The purchase of the commercial/residential-zoned lot and buildings was a good decision at the time, and the value of the property has already grown. Rural real estate prices are rising as urban residents look for less crowded living options and working from home has become a viable option for many professions. While specific use cases have not yet been developed, the Council is committed to using the property in a way that benefits the entire community. Before a final plan for the site are presented to the community, we are holding an open house to give members a chance to tour the property and see the great potential in the location.

For everyone’s safety, COVID-19 protocols will be strictly enforced:

  • No more than 25 people will be permitted on the site at one time
  • Face masks must be worn at all times while on the property
  • Stay at least 2 meters away from others not in your household
  • Sanitize your hands at the provided station when entering or leaving the property

We will publish more details about the event soon, but mark your calendar now!
