Introduction of the New Community Health Representative

Aanii/Boozhoo,

I would like to introduce myself as the recently hired Community Health Representative (CHR). My name is Laura Lee Vogl and I am a Band Member of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation. My mother is Glenda Pedoniquotte-Vogl, my grandparents are the late Beulah Akiwenzie-Pedoniquotte-Jones and Isador Keeshig-Pedoniquotte.

The CHR is responsible for participating in the delivery of Community Health, treatment and surveillance programs to provide quality health prevention and treatment in the community. As a member of the Health Team, the CHR is also responsible for navigating between patient, families, the community and health care providers to ensure patients and families understand their conditions and treatment and are receiving appropriate care. The CHR will develop, implement, and evaluate activities, programs, and events which respond to identified needs and interests of clients and maximize the benefits of health, fitness, and well-being. Additional responsibilities include Non-Drinking water and residential sampling, West Nile Virus tracking, Tick Submissions, Animal Wellness and Vaccination Clinics, Rabies information and control, and Safe Food Handling Certificate workshops.

I am looking forward to all the opportunities and challenges that the CHR position has to offer myself and my community. Also, I am thankful for the opportunity to be part of the dynamic team at the Health Centre.

In Unity,

Laura L. Vogl
