“Please note that the claims process is not yet open at this time. Claims forms will be available if the Court approves the settlement.”
Update: October 20, 2023:
As per the Indian Boarding Homes Class Action website, https://www.boardinghomesclassaction.com/, the following information was found:
“The court hearing to consider the fairness of the proposed Settlement Agreement proceeded as scheduled on September 12 to 14, 2023 in the Federal Court of Canada in Vancouver before Justice Pamel. The plaintiffs presented evidence in support of the Settlement Agreement. For the settlement to go ahead, it must be approved by the court as fair and reasonable. At the conclusion of the hearing, Justice Pamel indicated that he would take some time to review the evidence before providing his decision. The decision will be posted when available.”
Update: August 30, 2023
Previously, we announced that the deadline for the Indian Boarding Homes Class Action was August 25th. To clarify, the August 25 deadline was an opportunity for class members to express their support or opposition to the proposed settlement which the court will be reviewing on September 12 to 14. The claims process has not started yet, and may not start for some months after the September hearing if the deal is approved.
We will update the community as we receive more information.
