Roads and Sanitation are part of the Public Works Department of the Chippewas of Nawash, which is steered by the Public Works Committee, with direction from Chief and Band Council. The Public Works Department also includes Water, Fire, Sanitation, Street Lighting, Lagoon and Band Owned Equipment. The Public Works Committee, which is comprised of 5 members in addition to a Councilor Liaison, oversees all activities of Public Works. Any queries for the Public Works Departments can be directed to the clerk at publicworks@nawash.ca.

We are all grateful for the beautiful and healthy environment of Neyaashiinigmiing. Every kilo of trash that we can divert extends the life of the landfill and pushes back the time when we'll have to set aside more land for another. The Roads and Sanitation Department plays a critical role in keeping our environment clean for residents now and for generations to come, but we need everybody to do their part.

We ask that residents try to keep their properties tidy, make efforts to reduce the amount of waste in the community, and recycle as much as possible. This recycling chart shows the sorts of items we can accept for recycling. Items that are not recyclable, and are also non-toxic, are considered waste and can be set out with your regular trash for pick-up.
