CHFN shall, foster and increase the cultural awareness of First Nations Peoples including the Chippewas of Nawash. Preserve, enrich and perpetuate the language of First Nation Peoples. Act as a communications medium for all aspects of the Ojibway culture, and to advance the education of such. And ensure to do all the things that are necessarily ancillary to the operation of the radio station and to accomplish its objectives.
CHFN Communications Society has run as a non-profit organization since the radio station began in 1993. It has always serviced the Chippewas of Nawash as a non-profit community radio station offering training and employment to Chippewas of Nawash individuals who wished to learn about broadcasting or the aboriginal radio industry. The Station is governed by the CRTC with a type B Aboriginal CRTC licence and is a non-profit incorporated business.
